Exploring the environment through photography

Now entering its fifth year, Colliers Green Focus is provided free to all participating schools by Colliers International. It supports the teaching of the 'sense of place' theme of the geography curriculum in an innovative and inspiring way, using photography as a creative medium to explore local sites, opening up fresh perceptions and critical perspectives.

Schools can take part in one of two ways:

COMPACT: Our professional team lead a workshop with a school group
MOBILE: Teachers attend our free INSET training and lead their own activities back at school.

Every year participating students' photographs are entered into our national competition and have the chance to see their work presented at the Colliers Green Focus Annual Awards in London.

Colliers Green Focus 2011 Prizewinners Revealed!

23 November 2011

Fifty schoolchildren who had participated in Colliers Green Focus over the last twelve months gathered last night at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to discover which of them would be announced as winners in the 4th Annual Awards. Hosted by Colliers International, the winning students stepped forward to receive prizes including iPads, digital cameras and photography equipment for their schools to rapturous applause from their fellow students, teachers, Colliers' staff and their respective guests.

Congratulations to the winner of the Compact award, Bryn Clarke from Whitecross School in Lydney, Gloucesterhire and the winner of the new Mobile award, Ryan Harding from St Thomas More Language College in Chelsea, London! All the shorlisted photos can be viewed in our online Gallery.

A highlight of the evening was a specially recorded message to the students by the Colliers Green Focus Ambassador Steve Backshall, who commented "The standard of the photography coming out of this program has been superb. There has never been a time in history where so many people have had cameras available to them, just in their pockets, with the ability to capture the world around them."
