Colliers International hosted its fourth annual Colliers Green Focus awards ceremony at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in central London on Tuesday 22 November 2011.
The evening celebrated the achievements of more than 100 schools which had taken part in the scheme over the previous twelve months. Paul Vockins, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Colliers International, introduced the awards and drew special attention to the 79 students from who had their images shortlisted from more than 2,000 entries, many of whom attended with their teachers and saw their images proudly displayed to Colliers staff and guests at the event.
The Colliers Green Focus Ambassador, adventurer Steve Backshall, was unfortunately unable to attend the event but took time out from his busy filming scheduling to record a personal video message to the winners, commenting particularly on the new, innovative Mobile competition representing Colliers' drive to encourage the use of mobile phone cameras as a geography tool.
"The standard of the photography coming out of this program has been superb. I think it's so important that people get involved with the environment around them by using their mobile phones. There has never been a time in history where so many people have had cameras available to them, just in their pockets, with the ability to capture the world around them."
